Olive Oil Soap

When I first made soap I wanted the most natural ingredients which would be beneficial to your skin, I started with olive oil, a fascinating ingredient which I think you instinctively know is good for your skin.
Rich in vitamins minerals and proteins, excellent emollient qualities and very mild. It cleanses without stripping the skin's natural oils. It is packed with anit-oxidants which may help soothe skins prone to eczema or psoriasis or dry skin. So rich yet doesn't clog the pores.
After a while I got feedback that although soothing the soaps did not lather as well as highly processed bars, and went soft towards the end in the soap dish, so I set to looking at other ingredients to balance these factors.
My first thought was to harden the bars, so adding natural beeswax and harder vegetable oils was the key. More on these ingredients in next post but for now more about olive oil.
Our soaps are almost half olive oil and this is because of all the constituents olive oil contains which make it far superior to most soap on the market.
Fatty acids: provides deep hydration
Anti-oxidants: including vitamin e which reduces wrinkles and fine lines, polyphenols which reduces redness and oxidative damage
Squalene: deeply moisturizes and improves skin elasticity
And the process is important I make soap with the cold process soap so these constituents in olive oil remain remarkably stable ensuring the beneficial properties are retained over time.
All in all a nourishing protective option to have in soap particulary for hydration and nourishing skin.
